There are a number of different ways to make homemade cheap kitchen curtains. You can sew simple curtains, top curtains, or even use vintage tea towels to create curtains for your retro kitchen. Kitchen curtains are a big project for the beginning sewers because it is usually a small project that requires a little investment of time and money.
The simplest and cheap kitchen curtains have panels of fabric seamed on both sides and bottom, and have a jacket on the top for a drawbar. Divide the width of the window with the number of panels you want to do (usually one or two). Double number to add padding to the panel and make room for a stitch on each side. To create a simple cover for curtain rod, make a small edge at the top of the curtain to finish the edge; then fold the finished edge over to the back of the panel curtain and sew it into place, creating a pocket or sleeve for the finished rod. Place the panel at the bottom and hang and you have a finished curtain. Ornaments with ribbons, tiebacks or other decorative elements.

Tab top curtains are suspended in curtains with tabs instead of at a house. You can make veneers from the same material as cheap kitchen curtains or use contrasting material. Determine the width of the tab done and cut your fabric twice as wide. Cut a piece melt ably made as wide as the tab finished. Place the fusible web behind the material tab in the middle and fold both sides so that they meet in the middle. Iron to merge the network into place. Sew the finished tabs to the top of the curtain, evenly distributed along its length and add decorations.
